How we do it

Our primary method for implementing our mission is by partnering with established general public fishing tournaments to facilitate the creation and funding of a “Special Angler” awards category for their tournament.  The “Special Angler” awards category is primarily a set-aside competitive cash purse for tournament entrants who qualify as “special needs”.  Typically, we like to see tournaments go at least five deep in the awards for the Special Angler category  (e.g. 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, 4th place, and 5th place).  We also encourage non-cash awards (e.g trophies, plaques, etc.).

Why this works

We have found that a small financial incentive (and other prizes)  in general public fishing tournaments provides incredible motivation for a special needs individual, their family,  and friends to more actively participate in the wonderful  sport/pastime of fishing.
